Comprehensive Psychiatric Evaluation
Upon our first encounter, I will begin by performing a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation. You should plan to dedicate about one hour for our initial visit. This allows fifteen minutes to fill out the necessary paperwork and about forty-five minutes for our session. We will then decide together, what plan of care works best to meet your needs.
Even though I am board certified in family psychiatry and mental health, which means I have the ability to treat all ages across the life span, my practice is currently focused on caring for adults (ages eighteen and older). In the near future I may elect to treat adolescents as well (thirteen and older).
Medication Management
As a Board Certified Family Psychiatric & Mental Health NP, I have prescriptive privileges within New York State. If we decide that you would like to begin or continue medication, I have the ability to prescribe the necessary psychotropics.
After the initial evaluation, if we decide to treat with medication, you can expect all follow appointments to be about fifteen minutes in length. If you currently are seeing someone for therapy, with your consent of course, I would be more than willing to collaborate with them and treat you with medication.
Psychotherapy
Because of my focus on individualizing care, my practice is limited to how many clients I will treat with psychotherapy.
After the initial evaluation, if we decide to initiate psychotherapy our sessions will be forty-five minutes in length.
Medication Management with Psychotherapy
Research has shown that medication with psychotherapy proves the best results in restoring mental health. Depending on your plan of care, we will meet weekly or biweekly and plan to spend forty-five minutes during these sessions to treat both the pharmacological aspect and psychotherapy aspect of your individualized treatment plan.
My practice is limited to how many clients I will take on for psychotherapy but I have wonderful referrals for therapy, if I am not able to personally treat you.
